This is a small selection of events, concerts and exhibitions that take place in the area:





2017:-

6th, 13th, 20th, 22nd, & 27th January to 3rd, 5th & 10th February - Festival of Amateur Theatre. At the Victorian Theatre Des Copiaus in Chagny, prices are €7.

Held over until 2018 - a weekend when tasting at the 17th Percée du Vin Jaune takes place in the Jura. The vin de paille is pure yellow nectar.

24th February to 5th March - Carnival of Chalon sur Saône. Parades, music, dancing, shows, etc.

27th May - Les Paravents malgre eux by Moliere. At the Victorian Theatre Des Copiaus in Chagny, prices are €5.

3rd to 5th June - 30th Montgolfiades. Whitson weekend will see around 50 hot air balloons take to the air at Chalon. On Sunday afternoon there will be a family event, which will continue until the balloons take off for the final event at about 6.30pm at the Prairie Saint Nicholas.

28th June - 2nd July - Musicaves 2017 Festival of music without borders at Givry.

To be advised - ** July - International festival of Baroque opera at Beaune. held in the lovely walled city flanked by Burgundy's greatest vineyards, four weekends of Baroque music. It's a festival that strives to explore the Baroque lyric repertoire to its fullest extent. At the Festival, one can see seven operas over the course of the month of July, three of which are likely to be premieres or entirely new stagings.

13th and 14th July - Fireworks to celebrate Bastille Day. the 13th will be a display in Fontaines at about 23.00 hours

19th to 23th July - 31st Annual street theatre in Chalon. French street artists unite to provide four days of free entertainment. Chalon dans la Rue sets out to explore different contemporary genres and help the development of more poetic urban spaces, providing a colourful and entertaining landscape.

To be advised - ** September - Fontaines is holding its annual brocante; but there are many other brocantes, foires and wine festivals in the nearby villages throughout the spring and summer.

29th September - 8th October - Foire de Grand Chalon. This is the 15th annual trade fair featuring food, wine, furniture, agriculturel products and machinery, and music. It is for the general public and this year it features Italy, with many and varied eating facilities.

17th, 18th and 19th November - The 157th wine auction of the Hospices de Beaune. The famous wine sale takes place on the 19th November; but the full weekend is taken up with abundant wine and cheese tasting, music, craft demonstrations, contests, and street processions. Join the famous! Tickets for the wine sale can be purchased. La Petite Maison is within 20 to 25 minutes of Beaune going by car or train.
